TAUNTON MARATHON, HALF MARATHON & FAMILY FUN RUN 2008
What an exciting weekend Escape Families have had! On Saturday 5th April we held a Pre-Race Party to boost spirit’s, encourage and support those taking part in the Taunton Marathon, Half Marathon and Fun Run on Sunday 6th April. The Mayor and Mayoress of Taunton were guests of honour at the party and the party had a real buzz of excitement, especially when a special guest Mr Sub from SUBWAY at County Walk in Taunton arrived in costume, he greeted guests and provided the families with wonderful platter’s of sub’s and cookies. A HUGE thank you goes to Nikki & Simon Cory-Humble Franchise Owner’s of Subway and the fabulous Mr Sub ‘James’ Store Manager whom also took part in the Fun Run pushing one very lucky Escape Member Gregory Surtees in the finish in a record time for Gregory.
This year was a huge achievement for Escape Families with more than 100 entries in the Fun run, 17 Half Marathon and 2 brave Marathon runners, Chris Sabine who finished in 3 hrs 20mins and Dominic Long who despite his very brave efforts had to finish at the half marathon stage due to injury. Congratulations to Matt Gilbert who not only was the fastest ESCAPE Half Marathoner, but was this years youngest entrant.
A huge thank you also goes to Lush of Taunton they have been very busy raising sponsorship for Escape, we congratulate the team of four staff who took part in the Fun Run. Lush have also kindly donated many fabulous goodies to us for raffle prizes and continue to support Escape.
Another special thank you and acknowledgement to those businesses that donated and supported this event. Viridor, Carpets R Us, Berry’s Coaches and several anonymous donations.
