North Petherton Carnival 2022- Fundraising Opportunity

We have been invited to help out at North Petherton Carnival this year, raising money for the Carnival and in turn for Escape. See below for more info and the opportunities available. At the last carnival we had a number of volunteers who dressed up and raised funds to support Escape.

About the event

North Petherton Carnival Commitee:

"There are several ways in which organisations can help raise money:

1) Street Collectors (between 6:30pm and 11:00pm approx.). We provide collection boxes and identification badges and we will donate 50% of what is collected to your organisation. Once again the rules for this year are if you can provide some members on Sunday the 11th at the Church Rooms in North Petherton to help us sort the money even just for a few hours then your club will receive 50 %. However if you cannot help us with doing this your club will only receive 40 % of what you collect. We are again short this year on people helping us so it would be appreciated if you can offer help in any way. Minimum age limit is 18, but each adult can supervise one child (Cubs, Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cadets, etc can participate under their own regulations).

2) Programme Selling (between 4:00pm and 9:00pm approx.). We provide programmes and identification badges (and a trolley if required) and we will donate a flat fee of 50p for each programme sold. Minimum age is 18 but each adult can supervise one child.

3) Collection Float (from 4:00pm onwards). We will supply identification badges only. Your organisation will supply a decorated float, illumination, loudspeakers and a driver. If you can also supply 'sweepers' to collect monies that fall behind the collection float that would be very helpful. Minimum area of the collection sheet will be at least 8' (2.5m) wide by 6' (1.8m) high for safety reasons. We will donate 25% of what is collected to your organisation. Road Traffic and Public Liability Insurance will be your responsibility. Please attach details of vehicle, driver and insurance to the reply slip. Maximum number of helpers is limited to 10.

4) Sweepers behind Collection Floats (from 6:00pm onwards). We will supply collection boxes and identification badges. Groups to follow behind a collection float sweeping the road for missed coins and then place in collection boxes. At least one adult per 4 children to supervise, with a minimum of 2 adults per group. 50% of what is collected in the boxes will be donated to your organisation. As above unfortunately we will donate only 40 % if you cannot supply members to help us on the Sunday 11thNovember to help count in the Church rooms .

The carnival itself starts at 7:00pm from North Petherton Rugby Club to the south of the town and finishes at approximately 10:30pm at The Compass Tavern to the north of the town). This is approximately three miles in length. Because of the volume of people and traffic entering the town, the roads at either end shut at 5:30pm. We ask that all collectors report to the church rooms which are located next to the church and behind the community centre for 5:15pm. The church rooms are open from 3:00pm on the day. Tea, Coffee and other light refreshments are provided here after the carnival.

At our event this year i am looking for people who would be able to drive a collection vehicle also. If you feel that you could help in this personally i would be over the moon. Remeber if you could provide a driver then they need to be over 25 years old with a licence to permit them to drive a van. Also yor donation from the collection would increase. Fingers cossed that someone can help please."
